Digital Media Technology (DMT) and Audio-Visual Media Technology (AVMT) Careers Talks

April was a busy month for careers talks to DMT and AVMT students.

The Sandyford based company Digicom gave a presentation with a view to recruiting a prospective DMT graduate. Their last recruit from DMT in May 07, joined as a Junior Audio-Visual technician, and he had risen to a more senior position within a few months. Digicom install and maintain highly complex audio-visual systems for blue-chip companies.

Two visiting lecturers based at Futuresounds in Dublin city gave a very interesting and entertaining presentation on cutting edge music technology products, some of which are yet to hit the market. A whole range of software and keyboard devices were demonstrated, for instance the software Melodyne, which splits the audio wave and bring voices into key and create stunning harmonies from a short audio file.

Fingal County Council IT department also made a presentation, encouraging prospective DMT students to apply for contract work in their IT department, support their IT infrastructure and interactive web services across North County Dublin.
