Academic leader in assisting with the Engineers Ireland accreditation of the Bachelor of Engineering in Audio-Visual Media Technology, Academic leader for the programme specific aspects of Programmatic Review (2010), Programme Validation (2008), writing and editing programme documents that were submitted to national panels, as well as providing input at school and institute level
Leading development of an extended programme
Leading the development of the specific programme assessment strategy
Leading the feasibility team for possible re-accreditation activities with Engineers Ireland
Day to day co-ordination of programme modules, information flow, student liaison, staff liaison
Co-ordinating the use of resources, rooms and equipment, and advising staff, technician and Head of Department
Co-ordinating all funding requests for capital requests and small items
Chairing programme team and formal board meetings
Organising and overseeing organisation of special events, such as the programme’s part of the School of Creative Technologies Showcase, industry visits and careers talks
Linking prospective employers to graduates and students, and short-listing applicants for interview, with great success
Marketing of the programme by public presentation and the development of prospectus material, fliers and website information
Collecting and managing information on continuous assessment and student attendance
Liaising with access services, reading and writing support to ensure that students have equal opportunity to engage with the programme
Advising on Health and Safety/Risk Assessment initiatives for the programme
Proposal development – From the inception of an IADT Seed Fund project, I developed a proposal for the EU Leonardo Da Vinci fund, which was successful in attracting funding and special project consideration. The project involved assistive technology for those with special needs (disabilities), and specifically an information/guidance website for prospective third level students with such needs. This project successfully launched in 2006, with the possibility of further/spin-off projects.
Case Studies/surveys: with a social aspect - successful conducting of such surveys in hospitals, Sheltered accommodation and other healthcare premises.
Managing students in research projects: I have successfully managed students on 5 contracts at IADT.
