In 2001, the NOMAD consortiun was formed, which combined research groupings from three IoTs: the Centre for Creative Technologies and Applications (CCTA) at IADT; the Telecommunications Software Systems Group (TSSG) At Waterford IT; and the Software Technology Research (SToRC) at Dundalk IT. The rationale behind the cosortium, which received €350,000 in funding, wasto address new application areas where there is a strong emphasis on supporting creative activities at a time and place of the user’s choosing.
An exciting project trial, using advanced wireless technology to improve communication between students and their union officers, has been completed at IADT. This project was led at the CCTA by Dr. Mark Riordan and Dr. John Greaney.
